Agriculture and Rural Development

This pamphlet provides annual updates of selected agriculture, food and beverage statistics for Alberta.

Eligibility Criteria

This is a public document, and there are no restrictions on its access or use.  However, users are requested to properly accredit Alberta Agriculture, Food and Rural Development (AAFRD), Economics and Competitiveness Division, Statistics and Data Development Unit for any use or reproduction of the contents of the publication.

Summary

The Agriculture Statistics Factsheet provides users with a condensed collection of statistics on the Alberta agri-food industry.  In addition to data from the Census (which is conducted every five years), each edition of the pamphlet presents statistical data for the two most recent years for which information is available.  Published statistics include farmland area, population, employed labour force, selected indices (e.g. farm product price index), farm cash receipts and net farm income, livestock inventories and production, production and value of honey, crop production and acreage, food and beverage manufacturing, food sales, per capita food consumption, agri-food exports, etc.  The statistical data and information are gathered from a variety of sources, including Statistics Canada, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, CANFAX, AAFRD, other government departments and agencies, and industry.
