Alberta Municipal Affairs, Safety Services works with corporate bodies, municipalities, agencies and individuals to develop, maintain and administer Alberta's safety system.
Alberta Municipal Affairs Safety Services Branch administers the Safety Codes Act and its Regulations in partnership with the Safety Codes Council, accredited municipalities, accredited agencies, accredited corporations and Delegated Administrative Organizations. Through these partnerships, Safety Services coordinates the creation and application of appropriate codes, standards and permit systems in the following technical areas:
- Building
- Fire
- Electrical
- Gas (natural and propane)
- Plumbing and Private Sewage
- Boilers and pressure vessels
- Elevators
- Amusement rides
- Passenger ropeways (ski lifts)
